Wipeout HD is the latest installment in Sony’s futuristic, techno infused hovercraft racing series. Wipeout HD is more of a compilation of the PSP games, than a completely new installment. A lot of the tracks and ships will be found in the other games. However, what makes Wipeout HD so amazing is in its presentation. Wipeout is definitely a games that deserves all of that extra resolution high definition allows. This game is very crisp. The art style is very clean, but that doesn’t stop the ships from being rendered in great detail.

The looks of this game warrants the $20 alone, but you still get quite a bit for your $20. You’ll unlock vehicles and tracks through the single player campaign mode and once you get tired of that you can take it online and compete against other like-minded people. If you’re bored of racing you can, also, go into photo mode and take pictures.

The one thing that will always seperate Wipeout from similar games like F Zero is the music. The Wipeout series has always had a good amount of good electronica music to go along with its futuristic vibe. Wipeout HD is no exception and features a few artists like Mason and Kraftwerk. For those of you that don’t like that kind of music you can use the music on your PS3’s harddrive and create custom playlists for the game.

I suggest that if you own a PS3 to go online and pay the $20 for this game. It’s a great amount of fun for the price and Sony really should be rewarded for things like this.
